Myanmar was closed to most of the world until 1997, leaving the Mergui Archipelago, a group of 800 islands off of its southeast coast relatively unexplored. A little over two decades later mainstream travel magazines continue to describe the Mergui Archipelago as unspoiled. Let's go see for ourselves!
Fly into Phuket to join us for a four days of exploring Phang Nga providence from our base hotel in Khao Lak. Experience stunning beaches, an elephant sanctuary, and local culture. Of course we can't leave Thailand without diving! So out to dive Richelieu Rock we go by fast catamaran for a full day of diving. Voted best dive site in the Simillan islands.
We meet up with our dive boat staff in Ranong to clear custom into Myanmar by formal escort. This begins our adventurous week of diving aboard the Phinisi around the Mergui Archipelago. The Phinisi, officially known as Chen I Sao is a traditional Indonesian sailing vessel. She was custom-built in 2007, offering divers all the amenities to which we have grown accustom. A little over 100 feet long, she houses two quad cabins and five double cabins all en-suites. With two chefs preparing Asian and international cuisine, we will have plenty of delicious food to fuel our four dives a day around this exotic location.
Following the cruise, dive staff see us back through customs into Thailand for our group transportation back to Phuket airport.
